Movies That Matter: Hardlined & the Health of the Atlantic Coast Striped Bass

July 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Free

Join an expert panel to discuss the health of the Atlantic Coast striped bass population and the critical roles that climate change, fisheries regulation and river reconnection and restoration play in the future of this native sportfish. We’ll watch Hardlined the powerful KGB Productions film supported by our partners at Yeti, Costa, Simms and the American Saltwater Guides Association (ASGA) then be joined by an expert panel to hear their views and ask questions on what comes next, ways we can all make a difference and more. Panelists Kyle and Kitri Schaefer of Soulfly Outfitters will share their personal stories and experiences guiding and fishing the Maine coast and Kyle will speak from his role as an ASGA board member and the first fishing guide to be recognized as carbon neutral by the Fly Fishing Climate Alliance. Joining them on the stage will be Zach Whitener, a Research Associate at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute who developed the Snap A Striper program to document the health of the striped bass population through an angler and citizen science effort. Following brief remarks, the panel will take your questions and share their vision for a healthier, vibrant Atlantic Ocean.
