Sea Run Brook Trout: Forging a Future for These Threatened Fish

July 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Free

Maine’s coastal streams harbor the majority of the remaining strongholds of Sea Run Brook Trout in the United States – thanks in part to the steep streams, cold water and healthy habitat surrounding them. The future of these iconic – often large-growing – Brook Trout, however, is threatened by factors such as climate change, dams and other barriers to fish passage, land clearing, development, loss of habitat and more.

Join the National Leadership Council’s Native Trout Workgroup and an expert panel to hear what is known – and still being learned – about these unique fish up and down the Eastern seaboard as well as what TU, partners and agencies are doing to care for and recover them. Following a brief presentation, your questions will be taken by Merry Gallagher, Research Fishery Biologist, MDIFW, Jeff Reardon, Maine Brook Trout Project Director, Trout Unlimited, Geoff Day, Executive Director, Sea Run Brook Trout Coalition, Eric Tichay, Chair, Native Trout Workgroup.
